Ingredients
2–3 bags black tea (Assam, Darjeeling, or English Breakfast), or 2–3 tablespoons loose-leaf tea
1 cup water
1½ cups whole milk
1–2 teaspoons sugar, or more to taste
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
- Add the black tea and reduce the heat to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for 2 minutes.
- Pour in the milk and keep the heat low. Watch carefully and remove the saucepan from the heat just before it starts to boil.
- Remove the tea bags or strain the loose-leaf tea.
- Serve the Royal Milk Tea hot or let it cool and pour over ice. Add sugar to taste.
Notes
- For iced Royal Milk Tea, let it cool after steeping and serve over ice.
- Add vanilla extract, cinnamon, or cardamom for extra flavor.
- Use oat or soy milk for a vegan alternative.
- Sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or condensed milk can be used instead of sugar.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days in an airtight container.
