A hearty and comforting casserole made with layers of seasoned ground beef, egg noodles, a creamy sour cream and cream cheese mixture, and melted cheddar, baked to perfection for a nostalgic family meal.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce

1 cup sour cream

3 ounces cream cheese

1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

8 ounces egg noodles

1 white onion, diced

1 teaspoon garlic salt

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon white sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
  2. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat, then add garlic salt, salt, tomato sauce, and sugar. Stir and simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Cook egg noodles in boiling water until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine diced onion, sour cream, and cream cheese. Stir until smooth.
  5. Layer half the cooked noodles in the casserole dish, then half the sour cream mixture, followed by half the beef sauce. Repeat layers.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese is golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
