Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5–2 pounds)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for searing)
1 cup sour cream
½ cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional)
Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish
Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- If chicken breasts are thick, slice horizontally or pound to 1-inch thickness. Pat dry and season with salt and pepper.
- (Optional) Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden. Transfer to baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Mix until creamy.
- Spread mixture evenly over chicken breasts. If desired, sprinkle mozzarella or cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- For a golden top, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end, watching closely.
- Let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley, chives, or red pepper flakes before serving.
Notes
- Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter version.
- Boneless, skinless chicken thighs work well as a substitute.
- Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra vegetables.
- Can be made ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking.
- Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 4 days.
