  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.52 pounds)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for searing)

1 cup sour cream

½ cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional)

Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish

Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. If chicken breasts are thick, slice horizontally or pound to 1-inch thickness. Pat dry and season with salt and pepper.
  3. (Optional) Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden. Transfer to baking dish.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Mix until creamy.
  5. Spread mixture evenly over chicken breasts. If desired, sprinkle mozzarella or cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. For a golden top, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end, watching closely.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with parsley, chives, or red pepper flakes before serving.

Notes

  • Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter version.
  • Boneless, skinless chicken thighs work well as a substitute.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach for extra vegetables.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze unbaked assembled dish for up to 2 months, thaw before baking.
