Ingredients
1 medium yellow onion, quartered
1 cup fresh parsley, washed and patted dry
600 grams lean ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon seven spice
⅛ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
Instructions
- In a food processor, pulse the quartered onion and parsley until finely chopped.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion and parsley mixture, salt, black pepper, seven spice, and cayenne pepper. Mix thoroughly using your hands.
- Take portions of the meat mixture and mold them around skewers, forming logs about 1 to 1.5 inches thick.
- Preheat your charcoal or gas grill to medium-high heat. If using a gas grill, brush the grates with oil.
- Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 4 minutes per side, or until the meat is cooked through.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
Notes
- You can bake the Kafta at 375ºF for 15–20 minutes instead of grilling.
- Substitute ground lamb for a richer flavor.
- Add mint or cilantro for a fresh twist.
- Increase cayenne or add chopped chili for more heat.
- Chill the skewers before grilling to help the Kafta hold together better.
