Ingredients
2 lbs chicken tenders, thighs, or breasts
2 tbsp olive oil
Garlic Parmesan Butter Sauce
1 stick butter
8–10 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup parmesan, grated
1 tbsp hot sauce (more if desired)
2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
1/3 cup fresh parsley, minced
Chicken Seasonings
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes. In a small bowl, combine the chicken seasoning mixture (paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper). Cut the chicken into 3-inch pieces and toss in olive oil and the seasoning mixture.
- Thread the chicken pieces onto the skewers tightly, leaving no gaps. Trim the ends of the skewers if necessary to fit in the air fryer.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and minced garlic. Heat until partially melted, then stir in red pepper flakes, hot sauce, parsley, and parmesan. Whisk until well combined.
- Scoop out 1/3 of the sauce and reserve for basting the par-cooked chicken. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Place 2-3 skewers in the air fryer basket and cook for 5 minutes.
- Flip the skewers, baste with the reserved sauce, and cook for another 2 minutes at 400°F. Flip them back, baste with more sauce, and cook for 5-6 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Once the chicken is cooked, baste it one final time with the reserved garlic parmesan sauce, sprinkle with extra parmesan, and serve hot.
Notes
- If cooking in the oven, preheat to 450°F, place skewers on a rimmed baking sheet, and bake for 14 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- For grilling, preheat the grill to medium-high and cook skewers, basting with sauce, for 5-6 minutes per side.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge.
- Reheat leftovers in an air fryer at 350°F for 4-5 minutes or in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes until heated through.
- Skewers can be prepped up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the fridge.
