Garlic Butter Honey BBQ Beef Tacos are a perfect blend of sweet and savory flavors with tender beef cooked in garlic butter and a honey BBQ sauce, topped with creamy taco sauce and melted cheddar cheese.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 6 tacos

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or beef strips

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup honey

1/3 cup BBQ sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon BBQ sauce

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

6 soft taco tortillas

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef or beef strips to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it apart with a spatula if using ground beef. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in honey, BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and allow to simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, BBQ sauce, and smoked paprika to make the taco sauce. Set aside.
  5. Warm tortillas in a skillet or microwave until soft. Spoon the beef mixture onto each tortilla.
  6. Drizzle taco sauce over the beef, add shredded cheddar cheese, and top with fresh cilantro if desired. Fold the tacos and serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can swap ground beef for ground turkey, chicken, or shredded beef.
  • Adjust honey and BBQ sauce in taco sauce for desired sweetness.
  • For a spicier kick, add hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the beef or taco sauce.
  • Use hard taco shells instead of soft tortillas for crunch.
  • The beef mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
  • Make the taco sauce ahead of time and store it in the fridge for convenience.
