Ingredients
1 lb ground beef or beef strips
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup honey
1/3 cup BBQ sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon BBQ sauce
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
6 soft taco tortillas
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add the ground beef or beef strips to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it apart with a spatula if using ground beef. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in honey, BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and allow to simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey, BBQ sauce, and smoked paprika to make the taco sauce. Set aside.
- Warm tortillas in a skillet or microwave until soft. Spoon the beef mixture onto each tortilla.
- Drizzle taco sauce over the beef, add shredded cheddar cheese, and top with fresh cilantro if desired. Fold the tacos and serve immediately.
Notes
- You can swap ground beef for ground turkey, chicken, or shredded beef.
- Adjust honey and BBQ sauce in taco sauce for desired sweetness.
- For a spicier kick, add hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the beef or taco sauce.
- Use hard taco shells instead of soft tortillas for crunch.
- The beef mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
- Make the taco sauce ahead of time and store it in the fridge for convenience.
