A decadent dessert or snack combining cheesecake, strawberries, and a crispy fried bread coating for a unique twist on classic flavors.

  • Total Time: 25-30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 sandwiches

Ingredients

8 slices of brioche or thick white bread

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup milk

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp granulated sugar

Pinch of salt

Vegetable oil for frying

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk (optional for extra decadence)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on one side of four slices of bread. Top with sliced strawberries and a small spoonful of strawberry jam. Place the other slices of bread on top to form sandwiches. Press gently to seal.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, egg, vanilla extract, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Dip each sandwich into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated. Gently place the sandwich into the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  6. Drizzle the sandwiches with sweetened condensed milk for added sweetness. Cut each sandwich in half diagonally and serve warm with fresh strawberries on the side.

Notes

  • Vegan Option: Substitute cream cheese with vegan cream cheese and use plant-based milk and egg replacements like flax egg or chia egg.
  • Other Fruit Options: Try blueberries, raspberries, or bananas for a different flavor.
  • Storage: Best enjoyed immediately, but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat in an oven or toaster oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to regain crispiness.
