These homemade cereal bars are a quick, healthy, and customizable breakfast or snack option. With a blend of wholesome ingredients, they are perfect for busy mornings or packed lunchboxes, providing a nutritious and energizing treat for the whole family.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 9 cereal bars

Ingredients

3 cups cereal of choice

2/3 cup peanut butter or nut butter of choice

1/2 cup agave, honey, or brown rice syrup

Optional: 1/2 tsp salt

Optional: 3 tbsp protein powder

Instructions

  1. Line an 8-inch pan with wax or parchment paper. For a larger batch, double the recipe and use a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. If necessary, gently warm the nut butter until it becomes easily stirrable.
  3. In a large bowl, stir together all the ingredients until well combined.
  4. Pour the cereal mixture into the prepared pan. Place a second sheet of parchment paper on top and press the cereal mixture firmly into the pan.
  5. Freeze for about 30 minutes or until the bars are firm enough to slice.
  6. Once firm, slice into bars and store leftovers in the refrigerator, freezer, or at room temperature in a cool, dry place.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week in the refrigerator, or up to three months in the freezer.
  • To make nut-free, use sunflower seed butter or other nut-free alternatives.
  • For a sweeter taste, adjust the sweetener to your liking, adding more agave or honey as needed.
  • For added flavor and texture, you can mix in dried fruit, chocolate chips, seeds, or nuts.
