Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 yellow onion (chopped)
1 bell pepper (chopped)
1 small head of cabbage (cored & chopped)
1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
2 tsp Tony Chachere’s creole seasoning
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp black pepper
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the beef is browned, remove any excess fat, leaving just a little bit for flavor.
- Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet, and cook for about 3-4 minutes, until softened.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes, and all of the seasonings. Cover the skillet with a lid and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning with additional salt or other spices if desired.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the skillet, then cover again to melt the cheese.
- Serve and enjoy! You can enjoy this dish on its own or serve it with rice for those not following a keto diet.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for the ground beef if preferred.
- If you don’t have Tony Chachere’s seasoning, you can use a mix of salt, pepper, and paprika.
- This dish can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- If you want to make it spicier, add chili flakes or chopped jalapeños.
