Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, salted, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cups chopped apple pieces (peeled and cored)
1/2 cup toasted pecan pieces
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350℉ (175℃).
- In a small pan, toast the pecans over medium heat until fragrant. Set aside to cool.
- Peel, core, and chop the apples into ½-inch pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Stir in the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped apples and toasted pecans.
- Spread the batter evenly into a buttered or parchment-lined 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Bake for 30–45 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center. A toothpick should come out with moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before slicing into squares and serving.
