Ingredients
2 red apples (such as Pink Lady, Honey Crisp, or Gala), peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch bite-sized cubes
2 tablespoons real maple syrup, divided
1 tablespoon melted coconut oil (refined has no taste)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F and lightly spray the basket with non-stick spray.
- In a bowl, toss the peeled apple cubes with 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, coconut oil, and cinnamon.
- Add the apple cubes to the preheated air fryer basket. Be sure not to overcrowd them so they cook evenly.
- Air fry the apples for 10-14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. They should be golden and crispy on the outside while remaining tender on the inside.
- Once done, remove the apples from the air fryer and toss them with the remaining 1 tablespoon of maple syrup.
- Serve warm, either on their own, over oatmeal, or paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Add nuts: For added crunch, sprinkle chopped walnuts or pecans over the apples before air frying.
- Spices: Experiment with different spices like nutmeg or allspice for extra flavor.
- Substitute syrup: While maple syrup is highly recommended, you can use honey as a substitute for a different sweetener.
- Toppings: Serve the apples with a dollop of dairy-free whipped cream, a sprinkle of granola, or a scoop of non-dairy vanilla ice cream.
